Jessica is an Associate Solicitor in Wansbroughs’ Dispute Resolution Team, specialising exclusively in contentious probate matters. She advises clients on a wide range of disputes relating to Wills, estates and inheritance, providing clear, pragmatic guidance during what are often highly sensitive and complex situations. Jessica works closely with individuals, executors, trustees and beneficiaries to help them understand their options, protect their position and resolve disputes as effectively as possible, whether through negotiation, mediation or litigation where necessary.

Professional Background

Jessica joined Wansbroughs in 2018 as a Paralegal before progressing to a Trainee Solicitor with the firm. She qualified as a Solicitor in 2021 and was promoted to Associate in 2025. Since qualifying, Jessica has focused her practice on contentious probate and inheritance disputes, building specialist experience in an area of law where clients often need both technical expertise and a sensitive, personal approach.

Expertise

  • Contesting the validity of Wills – advising clients on claims involving lack of testamentary capacity, undue influence, want of knowledge and approval, improper execution and other concerns about whether a Will reflects the deceased’s true intentions.
  • Inheritance Act claims – supporting clients bringing or defending claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 where reasonable financial provision has not been made.
  • Executor and trustee disputes – advising executors, trustees and beneficiaries where concerns arise about the administration of an estate or trust, including communication issues, delay, conflicts of interest or alleged breaches of duty.
  • Disputes between beneficiaries – helping clients navigate disagreements about the distribution of estate assets, interpretation of Wills, lifetime gifts and the practical steps needed to move matters forward.
  • Estate administration issues – providing practical advice where disputes arise during the administration of estates, concerns about estate accounts and applications to the Court where appropriate.
  • Proprietary estoppel claims – advising clients where assurances or promises have been made about land or property and relied upon to their detriment, but have not been kept in the Will. Including claims arising in the context of family homes, farms and estates. Jessica can assist with assessing the evidence, bringing or defending claims and pursuing a fair and proportionate resolution.
