Training as a Solicitor

Due to the announced changes in SQE funding, we are pausing our trainee recruitment until October 2026.

We typically recruit 4-5 trainees each year and generally have up to 12 trainees within the Firm at any one time.

For qualifying work experience, we offer five 6-month seats in different practice areas, which are likely to include time in some of the following areas: private client, agriculture and landed estates, family and divorce,  corporate and commercial, dispute resolution, commercial property, and residential property.

In all areas you will get exposure to high quality legal work, with an attractive salary and generous benefits, whilst maintaining a good work/life balance and a high rate of retention on qualification. Plenty of networking events, confidence building training, socials with your fellow trainees and time off for volunteering are part of all in the mix too.

To be selected for these opportunities, you will need a Law Degree and some work experience. The deadline for applying for a trainee position is the end of November each year, for a contract to start in September the following year. We do, on occasion, also have paralegal opportunities available throughout the year.

Some of these paralegal positions are suitable as qualifying work experience, so candidates are welcome to make contact throughout the year via hr@wansbroughs.com.

Our Trainee Solicitor vacancies open between October and November each year – please check back in 2026 to apply for one of these. Use our Current Opportunities tab for further details and to apply.
