Jennifer is a Partner in our Wills, Tax, Trusts & Probate team. She advises clients on a broad range of matters including Wills, tax planning, the administration of estates and trusts as well as issues affecting clients as they grow older such as care home fees and Lasting Powers of Attorney. She also has over a decade of experience in administering estates.
After graduating from the University of Exeter, Jennifer joined Wansbroughs as a trainee in 2007 and qualified as a Wills, Tax, Trusts & Probate solicitor in 2009. Jennifer went on to become a Partner in 2019.
Jennifer is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) enabling her to use the designation ‘TEP’ which is seen as a mark of excellence in the profession.
Recent experience:
- Advising a wealthy individual on their inheritance tax position and ways to mitigate this. Preparing a Deed of Variation to give recently inherited assets to a trust thereby potentially saving Inheritance Tax. Drafting a new Will and Lasting Powers of Attorney to ensure that financial and medical decisions could be made for them if they were to lose capacity in the future.
- Assisting a family in reviewing the legal position as regards the ownership of the farm and the structure of the business. Implementing a carefully structured Partnership Agreement which should ensure the family qualify for available reliefs saving them Inheritance Tax.
- Assisting a couple who own a small business to plan ahead with Wills that test the availability of Inheritance Tax reliefs on the first death. Also putting in place Lasting Powers of Attorney to ensure that the business as well as their own finances could be managed if they were unwell.
