Recent experience:
- Acting in a Variation of Trusts Act application to Court to extend the accumulation of income provisions of a number of family trusts where minor and unborn beneficiaries had to be represented.
- Advising the executors in the estate of a farmer, making a claim for Business Property Relief (BPR) and Agricultural Property Relief (APR) on the partnership and farm assets and putting in place a discretionary trust to ‘bank’ the BPR/APR to enable assets to pass down to the next generation free from inheritance tax.
- Providing tax and estate planning advice to a wealthy couple with business assets, including setting up Wills to take advantage of Inheritance Tax reliefs and putting in place a deed of variation from one of their parent’s estates to prevent further value passing to their own estates for IHT purposes.
