Statutory maternity, paternity, adoption and sick pay changes for April 2020
Proposals for increases to statutory benefit payments have been made by the Department for Work and Pensions in the members library of the House of Commons.
The proposed changes are as follows:
– The weekly rate of statutory sick pay will increase from £94.25 to £ 95.85;
– The weekly rate of statutory maternity pay and maternity allowance will increase from £148.68 to £151.20;
– The weekly rate of statutory paternity pay will increase from £148.68 to £151.20;
– The weekly rate of statutory shared parental pay will increase from £148.68 to £151.20; and
– The weekly rate of statutory adoption pay will increase from £148.68 to £151.20.
Subject to parliamentary approval, these changes will come into effect in April 2020.
The increases usually come into force on the first Sunday in April, which is the 5th this year.
