Kickstart Scheme update

The Kickstart scheme is aimed at creating new high-quality jobs to help 16-24 year-old unemployed people on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers can apply for funding to cover 25 hours work per week paid at the National Minimum Wage and a grant for ancillary costs. Previously, a minimum of 30 roles must have been created in order to be eligible for funding.

From 3 February 2021, employers can apply directly to the Kickstart scheme for any number of job placements, removing the threshold of 30 job placements. You can also choose to apply through a Kickstart gateway, including those supporting sole traders.
