Change in online use of LPAs

As many people with newer Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) know, for LPAs registered after July 2020, online copies of these have been available via the “Use LPA” service.
Later this summer (from 13 August 2024), the government is launching a new replacement service called “GOV.UK One Login”. This will now be the only way you can access your LPA documents online.
GOV.UK One Login uses the same email address and password that donors previously used for the old system, with the intention of making the transition smooth. If you want online access to a copy of your LPA, you can set up your GOV.UK One Login now or wait until you sign in for the first time on or after 13 August 2024 – https://home.account.gov.uk/.
It is important to note that after 13 August 2024, your previous email address will be registered in connection to any LPAs available on the GOV.UK One Login. If you do not amend your email address before 13 August 2024, but intend to use a different one, you will have to apply for a new activation key to access your LPAs online.
