Autumn Budget: No change to SDLT or conveyancing

Autumn Budget - No changes to SDLT - Wansbroughs

The recent Autumn Budget confirmed no changes to Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT). All existing rates, thresholds and surcharges remain exactly as they are, including those for second homes and overseas buyers.

For homeowners, buyers, and solicitors, it’s very much business as usual. The only new measure for the property market is an annual surcharge on very high-value homes (starting with those over £2 million) — sometimes referred to as a “mansion tax” — but this sits outside SDLT and does not affect the conveyancing process for standard residential sales and purchases.

In a market that thrives on certainty, this stability will be welcomed by both buyers and property professionals.

If, since the Autumn Budget, you are considering selling or purchasing a property in Wiltshire or London, our Residential Property team is here to help. We pride ourselves on delivering clarity, quality, and a truly personal service throughout every stage of your transaction.
