Route to Law

Emily qualified in September 2005 having trained at a large regional firm, remaining there as a newly qualified solicitor before moving to Stevens & Bolton LLP in Guildford where she worked for four years in the Tax and Trusts department. She then spent just under five years in-house in financial services as a partner in a Family Office in London before, more recently, working back in private practice for the high profile London law firm, Mishcon de Reya.
Emily joined the Wills, Tax, Trust and Probate team at Wansbroughs in January 2017.
Emily has worked in probate since qualifying in 2005, except for the five years when she was non-practising, in-house in financial services.
Emily is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), completing the STEP diploma in 2013 and achieving good marks in the four qualifying exams, including two distinctions.
Emily's work has included:
- acting for executors in administering large estates with complex assets, including assets based abroad;
- advising on the establishment of trusts for both tax planning and asset protection reasons;
- advising trustees on the administration of their trusts, their responsibilities as trustees both to the beneficiaries of the trust and HMRC;
- providing advice to clients on lifetime tax planning such as lifetime gifts and gifts out of surplus income.
