Sun, Sand and Sorrow?

Owning a property abroad can be a luxury during a lifetime but can leave your family with an administrative headache after you've gone. Here at Wansbroughs, Anna Wensley Stock and Kathryn Smith Cowap have acquired wide experience of dealing with estates with an international element, from Spain to Australia, Kuwait to France, Portugal to Greece and beyond.

As a first step, if you have any assets abroad, we strongly recommend that you take professional advice and structure your Wills accordingly. We can help with drawing up your UK Wills and can advise you what to do about any foreign Will that might be required; preparation really is the key if you don't want to leave an expensive and time consuming legacy.

After a death, international assets obviously have to be taken into account from an inheritance tax point of view, but that really is only the beginning of the matter. Closing international bank accounts, transferring foreign property and dealing with local lawyers can all throw up their fair share of issues. We can never promise that it will all be plain sailing, but we certainly can offer you our accumulated knowledge and assistance.

If you think you might be able to benefit from our knowledge and expertise, then please do get in touch with Anna Wensley Stock on 01380 733395 or Kathryn Smith Cowap on 01380 733399 or click on either name to email.
